Alhaji Jazuli Liman, the PDP candidate for Tureta Constituency in the Aug. 20 bye-election in Sokoto State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress ( APC).

Liman announced his defection in Tsamiya village at the inauguration of the campaigns for the poll to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said: “I left my former party to the APC because of its remarkable achievements, at all levels.

“I have wholeheartedly joined the APC and I will honestly work for its success at the forthcoming poll.”

Also speaking, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto State), commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his tireless efforts to better the lives of Nigerians. Wamakko also noted with happiness how Buhari had tremendously improved the security situation in the country. He urged Nigerians to exercise more patience and offer prayers for the sustenance of peace and unity in the country.

“We should all be patient as Nigeria will soon be better for all of us,” the lawmaker and former governor of the state said.

On his part, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal noted that APC was committed to taking Nigeria to greater heights at all levels. Tambuwal promised to sustain more laudable programmes and policies aimed at improving the living standard of the people.

The state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, described APC as a strong, united and resolute party. “The party will Insha Allah (God’s willing) win the election with a landslide victory,” he said.

The state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, and the Tureta Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Tureta, pledged to work for the success of the party.

The APC candidate, Alhaji Abdullahi Rand, also promised to live aboard, if given the mandate
