The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has described a factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, as a spoiler.
Okowa made the remark during the PDP North Stakeholders Forum at Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.
According to Okowa, “PDP senators, members of House of Representatives, all the governors and former governors are supporting Alhaji Ahmed Markafi, as the recognized Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP.
“The Sheriff group is just playing the role of spoilers, but, do not throw them away. Provide the enabling environment for them to be active in our party because they are our brothers and sisters.”
Recall that the ruling opposition party in the country has been enmeshed in leadership tussle since the inauguration of the Sen Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee earlier in the year.
Despite an Appeal Court, Abuja division, declaring Sheriff’s claim to the party’s National Chairman as illegal, the former Borno State Governor recently insisted that he remains the substantive leader of the party.
