Former National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Wale Oladipo on Wednesday said the new chairman, Prince Uche Secondus was capable and competent to lead the party to victory in 2019.
Oladipo served as secretary alongside the former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sherif, who held sway as chairman, until the Supreme Court verdict of July 12, 2017, which declared the former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, the authentic leader of the party.
Oladipo opined that the emergence of Secondus has brought stability and peace, noting that the party is working assiduously to take over power in 2019.
Oladipo, who was fielding questions from newsmen at the venue of 8-day Fidau prayer for father of the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello at Ede, averred that the party remained more cohesive and robust than ever.
The former varsity teacher added that the stability of the party at the national level would naturally put all state chapters on the right footing to win election in their respective states.
He, however, frowned at the arrangement of the timetable for the 2019 general election recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Oladipo condemned INEC for “lumping National Assembly election with the Presidential election”, but commended the commission for rolling out modality for the general election on time to ensure credible process.
