PDP Crisis: Why I visited Tony Anenih – Ali Modu Sheriff

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff on Friday explained why he visited the former Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustee, BoT.

Addressing journalists after the closed-door meeting in Anenih’s Abuja residence, Sheriff disclosed that his visit was to consult with the former Minister on the leadership tussle in the party and on how to reposition the former ruling party.

Sheriff, who was last week affirmed as the authentic Chairman of the party by a Port Harcourt Appeal Court, described Anenih as a founding father of the party. http://dailypost.ng/2017/02/17/breaking-ali-modu-sheriff-pdp-authentic-national-chairman-appeal-court/

He said, “If there are two founding fathers, Chief Anenih is one. Therefore, as a father, I came to consult with him.

“I came to tell him that this is the situation we are. He as a father who formed this party, should help us on how to reposition the party to the period of 1999.

“Baba has given us kind and fatherly advice on all matters.’’

Anenih, who refused commenting on what was discussed said the meeting was between father and son.

“I have spoken to my son. He will speak with others.’’

Also addressing reporters, the Vice Chairman of Sheriff’s faction, Cairo Ojougboh said that the visit was part of efforts to re-unite aggrieved members of the PDP, adding that consultation with party leaders will continue.

“We are doing this in order to come up with a formidable party,’’ he said.
