Former Secretary to the Imo State Government, SGI, Barr. Chris Okewulonu, has alleged that the embattled factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, is out to destroy the party, stressing that he is not a card carrying member of the party.
Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, the legal luminary, who wondered what the former Borno State governor stands to lose if he steps down as the party’s national chairman, stressed that Sheriff’s desperation is a bad omen for the party.
Commenting on the crisis currently rocking the party, Okewulonu, observed that the party is greater than any of its members and it remains united.
Urging members to subject themselves to the party’s constitution for the sake of unity, the former SGI said the, “issue of Sheriff has been blown out of proportion by the media thereby, portraying our party as being in crisis. That notion is not only wrong but misleading because PDP is intact, Sheriff or no Sheriff.
“The ward is where membership of a party is anchored. I bet you, Sheriff’s name is not in PDP’s membership register in his ward because he suddenly jumped into PDP from APC. He is acting as if he is harbouring an age long bitterness against PDP and the opportunity has now provided itself for him to strike,” he added.
