The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described the affirmation of Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic Chairman of the party by the Supreme Court in Abuja as an indication that vindicate its firm belief in the rule of law and one PDP.
The party stated that its belief not to be biased, to either support Senator Makarfi or Senator Ali Modu Sheriff during the court processes has confirmed that “Oyo PDP is not in support of Makarfi or Sheriff but believe in one united PDP and rule of law.”
The party made these known in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital through its State Administrative Secretary, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape.
The statement “Urged party leaders, followers, well wishers and those who believe in its rescue mission to come back to power in 2019 after 6 years of APC’s mismanagement in Oyo state to close rank and forge ahead for the reclaim of Oyo state in 2019.”
Alarape while reacting to the Wednesday’s ruling that affirmed Senator Makarfi also urged all stakeholders in the party to come together to repeat its recent success recorded at the last Saturday’s bye-election in Osun West Senatorial District both at the federal and state levels.
The former Speaker of the state House of Assembly who spoke on behalf of PDP continued, “We in Oyo PDP seized this medium to congratulate Senator Ahmed Makarfi over his confirmation as the authentic National Chairman of PDP.
He declared that the state chapter is not loyal to any of the leaders but believes firmly in one PDP, rule of law and Nigeria.
“We are not loyal to any of the leaders, we are loyal to PDP, rule of law and Nigeria. This has been vindicated today.
“This victory has vindicated our stand that we are either for Makarfi or Sheriff. It is not about Makarfi or Sheriff but about Nigeria’s progress and PDP.
“We congratulate all members for their patience, resilience and commitment for having belief in PDP as the court processes last. We remain one PDP family, united we stand, divided we fall.
Alarape then urged party stakeholders to work together the way they did last Saturday in Osun West Senatorial District which led to the victory of Senator Demola Adeleke.
“We urged party leaders, followers, well wishers and those who believe in its rescue mission to come back to power in 2019 after 6 years of APC’s mismanagement in Oyo state to close rank and forge ahead for the reclaim of Oyo state in 2019.
“Let us work together and work for the victory of PDP at the federal and state levels in 2019 the way we did in Osun West last Saturday”.
