President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that the ongoing crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party was a minor issue, hence blaming the media for exaggerating the recent development in the party.
Jonathan said this at a post-convention dinner held in honour of the newly elected members of the national executive committee of the party, in Abuja, on Sunday.
He said, “We are all adults and we all know that in all human institutions, there must be some disagreements.
“There is no human institution that shouldn’t have any disagreement. In families, we disagree. So, what has happened, I believe is a minor disagreement that we will be able to solve,” he said.
Jonathan who added that disagreements were normal in every organisation, said that the ruling party would remain focused and united.
It would be recalled that former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar and seven other serving PDP governors walked out of its mini-convention, in Abuja few weeks back and announced a formation of a new faction. This has also led to opening of a new PDP Secretariat that has now been sealed by the Police, considering its purported illegality.
