PDP crisis: I never disparaged Sheriff – BoT Chairma‎n, Jibril

Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Walid jibril, has denied describing factional chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and his supporters in disparaging terms.

The BoT chairman who spoke with newsmen in Kaduna, Wednesday, expressed shock at the statement circulated online which was said to have emanated from him.

In the statement, Jibrin was quoted as saying Sheriff and his co-travelers, especially Cairo Ojuogbo were never men of honour and that both of them are “nonentities, impostors and rabble rousers.”

Jibrin said those who knew him can attest to the fact that he was not given to slander but always focused on issues, hence could not have made such a statement.

He said, “The comment purported to have been made by me is very satanic. The motive of the architect is to divide us in order to kill the PDP.

“But they will never succeed as the party remains one. The issue at hand is about the party and not individuals and I have never viewed it in any other way.”

The BoT chairman said his position on the chairmanship tussle within the PDP had been consistent and clear and had never changed.

“We have trust in the judiciary and we don’t want anybody to come and divide us. We remain one as PDP and anybody who wants to create any problems should leave the party.

“They should stop misquoting me as my position has always been consistent‎. I urge my supporters to disregard any statement that is at variance with my known stand on this matter and allow the courts to work,” he stated.
