The Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Governors’ Forum of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has slammed national chairman of the party, Senator Alimodu Sheriff, for walking out on party leaders during a pre-reconciliation meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
Efforts to settle the protracted internal rancour rocking the former ruling party hit the rocks on Thursday after Sheriff walked out on former President Goodluck Jonathan, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees and other chieftains during the meeting.
Sheriff claimed he was not given an opportunity to address the members in his capacity as the PDP’s chairman.
Reacting to Sheriff’s action, Fayose in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, on Friday described the PDP chairman as “an impostor, an impossible character, agent of darkness” sent by the APC-sent to destroy the PDP.
“I will not work with him. He is a betrayer of confidence and does not represent peace and hope. I will not be part of any meeting with such a desperado.
“If I may holistically respond to his statement on no reconciliation, the response is good riddance to bad rubbish”, he said.
Fayose accused Sheriff of plotting with the ruling All Progressives Congress to turned Nigeria into a one party state.
He added, “Sheriff has said he can no longer work with Jonathan or any of the PDP leaders. This is an indication that he prefers working with the opposition in order to destroy the PDP.”
