The continuous crisis rocking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, witnessed another setback yesterday, even before the peace talks scheduled for last night as the presidency said the scheduled meeting may not yield any positive outcome.
Presidency had allayed fear that the seven agitated governors had plans to keep frustrating the peace process.
A source from the Presidency had disclosed, last night, that even with the intention of the President towards ensuring that peace returns to the party, the rebel governors are bent at frustrating the entire peace process.
The official said that the governors have continued to boycott peace meetings at several times, a clear indication that they are not ready for peace.
Citing a situation from the last peace process chaired by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, the source said that when they were almost achieving the purpose of the meeting, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, who stood for the dissenting governors, affirmed that his colleagues must be consulted first as he was not ready to speak on their behalf.
The source disclosed further that since all the governors may not be able to make it to the last night meeting , the outcome may not be interesting as the governors may use such as an excuse to delay the peace process.
