PDP crisis deepens as court summons Metuh, Chikwe

An Abuja High Court on Thursday ordered two national officers of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to appear before it.

They are the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh and then woman leader and member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Kema Chikwe.

Dailypost gathered that some aggrieved party members want them sacked from the National Executive committee.

Metuh and Chikwe were allegedly served the summon letter following an interlocutory injunction sought by some members of the South Eastern zone of the PDP.

The group led by Nicholas Ukachukwu who stated in court documents that the South East congress that brought in the duo was marred with irregularities.

In the meantime, both officers have denied receiving any court order. The ruling PDP has been faced with several troubles in recent times.

While Governors are keen on having control of the party, national chairman Bamanga Tukur with the backing of the presidency have struggled to contain their overbearing influence.

However, only time will tell how long Tukur can withstand the onslaught.

The permutations of the next general elections has further made the party largely polarized.
