PDP crises: Who is Kashamu to be my godfather – Sheriff quips as he rubbishes report

Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, says it is better for the party to work collectively towards ending the leadership crisis within the party.

A statement signed by Inuwa Bwala, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity on Tuesday in Abuja, warned PDP loyalists to be wary of smear campaigns.

Sheriff was reacting to a recent report alleging that Senator Buruji Kashamu was his “godfather.”

The statement described the report as part of the mischief and orchestrated smear campaigns embarked upon by some people, against Sheriff.

It reads in part: “We wish to state, for the avoidance of doubt, that Sheriff has no godfather in politics and Senator Buruji Kashamu could not have been one”.

“It is becoming clearer that the PDP National Chairman’s critics have run out of ideas on how to achieve their selfish agenda.

“This falsehood was aimed at distracting Sheriff from manifesting his capacity to reposition the PDP. It is most uncharitable for anybody to imply that Kashamu is Sheriff’s godfather.

“Sheriff has a very long history of political activities behind him and does not need a godfather to survive.”
