PDP crises: Sheriff disowns petition on judges

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has disowned reports in some sections of the media over a petition purported to have been written to the Chief Judge of the Federation, over the conduct of judges in the PDP leadership tussle.

While admitting that he was not pleased with the attitude of a particular judge, who he has openly condemned, he said he has no petition currently being investigated by the National Judicial Commission, NJC or the Chief Justice of the Federation.

He explained that, he had made moves to call the attention of higher authorities to certain traits in a particular judge, and attendant observable flaws in some of the court pronouncements, but had since desisted based on wise counsels. He said it was not proper to have quoted him as having sent a petition over the development.

He frowned at a situation where some people use his name to cause disaffection with judges, some of whom he holds in very high esteem, stressing that those who parade the so called petition were merely soiling his name.

He cleared further that he has high respect for Nigerian judges, and except for the few whose names he had earlier mentioned, and that he will never do anything that will impugn on the integrity of the institution.
