PDP chieftains defect to APC as Buhari, Oshiomhole, Tinubu storm Borno

Ramat Square in Maiduguri, venue of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential rally witnessed a high turnout of supporters on Monday.

At the event, some key figures of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, including former Governor of Borno State, Mohammed Goni, were formerly received into the APC.

President Muhammadu Buhari led APC leaders to Borno for the rally.

Buhari was earlier received at the airport by Governor Kashim Shettima in company of former Governors and National Assembly members.

The President drove to the Shehu’s palace for homage before his convoy moved to Ramat square.

APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, co-chairman of the party’s presidential campaign council, Bola Tinubu, the Director General and Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi among other top chieftains were in attendance.

After a welcome address by the state APC chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, Governor Shettima said Borno was a natural home of Buhari as he had always won most votes.

The Governor said stakeholders of the party were determined to ensure Borno falls among states that will give the President the highest votes in February.

In separate remarks, Bola Tinubu, Adams Oshiomhole and Rotimi Amaechi commended the crowd in Maiduguri, saying they were upbeat that Buhari would be re-elected next month.

The event witnessed the symbolic presentation of APC flag to the party’s governorship candidate in Borno, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum by Oshiomhole.

Speaking, Buhari thanked the people of Borno for turning out in high number.
