As the residents of Enugu State await for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s naming of cabinet members and other key appointments, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Chief Chinedu Eya has called for patience.
This is as Eya described the Governor as “a man with an insatiable quest for perfection,” while noting that the helmsman will assemble a team of technocrats in his second term cabinet.
Chief Eya, a former Enugu North senatorial aspirant on the platform of the PDP in the just concluded 2019 elections, narrated that the task of assembling a team of technocrats who will steer the ship of any state in line with the dreams of it’s Founding Fathers is not ‘a tea party.’
The PDP Chieftain further maintained that “at the end of the day, everybody in the state will come to the realisation that the wait for the governor’s cabinet assembling is worth it as men and women of proven records will make the cut to the benefit of the state.”
“At the moment, without holding brief for the working Governor, one can boldly say that the delay in announcing his working team for the task of moving the state to the Canaan of its dreams is understandable,” Eya said in a statement he personally signed.
“This is like the second half of a football match and everything has to be made right. So, the governor is taking his time to ensure that a right team is put in place.
“It is also important to ask the political actors not to put undue pressure on him. I say this because I understand that intense pressure and lobbying is going on at the moment. They should all take it easy and allow him make his choice freely.
“In the event of success or failure of his administration, he takes full responsibility, so they should avoid undue pressure on him.
“Unarguably, the success or otherwise of any government is dependent on the capacity of its cabinet. And assembling such a team of technocrats is as daunting as it is tasking;” he noted.
“Head or tail, at the end of the day, everybody in the state will come to the realisation that the delay is worth it,” he concluded.
He, however, commended the Governor on the peaceful nature of the state, while saying that “there is nothing a government cannot achieve under a peaceful atmosphere.”
