PDP begins move to unseat APC government in Kogi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state has said that it is set to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2019.

It assured that the party is now in a better position to play its leading role in the polity.

Party members stated this during a stakeholders meeting held by the Ajaokuta Local Government chapter of the PDP at Adogo, the LGA capital.

The meeting attended by party stalwarts, youths, women, former Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman, 12 former councillors and 4 supervisory councillors, resolved to put their differences behind them to forge ahead

Speaking, Hon. Moses Okino, preached unity, reconciliation and charged PDP supporters to start canvassing for the party in all the wards of the LGA.

The LGA party chairman, Lamina Achereku, congratulated supporters on the Supreme Court victory which affirmed the Ahmed Makarfi led executive saying that it is sign of good things to come.

He briefed supporters of recent and future party activities like Congresses and National Convention, assuring that the party will be victorious in its next outing.

Others who spoke, including a former Chairman, Salihu Onekata, urged the party to put machinery in motion for reconciliation and to receive decampees to the party .

The sardauna of Ebiraland and a former board Chairman, Alh. Salawu Bello, prayed for the party to take Nigeria out of “the current economic mess”.

He appealed to members to commence ward meetings immediately.

As part of the resolution at the meeting, PDP Ajaokuta Local Government chapter passed a vote of confidence on the PDP National and State Exco with assurance of their unalloyed support.

Stakeholders also resolved to commence ward meetings and party activities immediately, and as well set up reconciliation committee to reconcile supporters and bring in decampees.

The stakeholders urged supporters to prepare and participate fully in the upcoming Congresses.
