The Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are battling for political survival because President Muhammadu Buhari denied them access to free money from the public treasury.
Speaking to reporters in Mopa area of the state, Fanwo said that the party had been rejected by the Nigerian people.
He said: “We have shown the world what Mr President has done for the people. We have told the world what this President will do in the next four years. What PDP has been able to tell us is that the country is hard.
“Their definition of ‘hard’ is their failure to have access to the treasury. They are finding it difficult to survive without free money. They told us they were sorry for the way they ran our economy aground only to come back to offer us someone who has been explaining hard to us that he is not corrupt. Nigerians have rejected the PDP”.
Fanwo also expressed confidence in the chances of victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state in Saturday’s presidential elections.
He boasted that Governor Yahaya Bello will assert his “political astuteness for the world to see”.
According to him, the Governor has positioned himself well in the minds of the people.
“The Government of Kogi State under the leadership of Alh. Yahaya Bello has put in place policies that have impacted positively on the people of the state. Our healthcare policy as well as agricultural programs have empowered thousands across the State.
“The Civil Service Reform has brought challenges but we are confident that Government has taken the right path to check the rot that was prevalent in the service. No government can thrive with a cancerous civil service and we all know how uncomfortable chemotherapy can be. We are on the right path and Kogi will massively vote for Mr President and all APC candidates across the state.
“In the past few months, we have visited every nooks and cranny of the state to market our candidates to the people. We have campaigned harder than the PDP and other parties and we do not have to battle with the integrity of our candidates, starting with Mr President. He is an upright man who is committed to the progress of our nation.
“All our candidates are people of proven integrity who have also connected well with the grassroots. The opposition parties are jolted and have resorted to propaganda and blackmail. The people are with APC and APC is strongly for the people”.
He called on the people of Kogi State to shun violence and embrace peace before, during and after the general elections, saying the State Government will not tolerate violence.
“As you are aware that we abhor violence as a Government, we want to urge all Kogites to see election as a contest for votes and not an avenue to kill or injure our fellow citizens. We want to assure Kogite that Government will protect them before, during and after the elections. Our citizens’ lives are more important than votes”.
