Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi said five attempts at stopping the party’s non-elective convention through the courts failed.
The convention will hold tomorrow, Saturday in Abuja.
Speaking at the opening session of the 75th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Friday night in Abuja, Makarfi said, “we have very serious issues to discuss. There were four or five attempts to stop this convention.”
In his remarks, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Walid Jibrin said, “The PDP will never die.”
Meanwhile, former President of the Senate, David Mark, has urged of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to ensure a hitch-free exercise that would strengthen the party.
In a statement by his spokesman, Paul Mumeh, Mark expressed optimism about the future of the party after the convention.
He, however, warned PDP members that the party could not afford to make another mistake.
“I am impressed by the renewed enthusiasm and commitment of members towards rebuilding the party after the protracted leadership tussle.
“We have come this far through a tortuous journey. We cannot afford to make another mistake that could affect the fortunes of the party in the days ahead”, Mark said.
