The Patriotic Christian Youths of Nigeria (PCYN) on Sunday appealed to the President of the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, Dr Jeremiah Gado to withdraw the court case he instituted against the National Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, at an FCT High Court.
The appeal was contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman, ECWA Board of Trustees, ECWA Headquarters Jos, signed by PCYN President, Evangelist Simon Timothy Nasso, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Jos.
The group drew the attention of ECWA to the implications of the court case the ECWA President had instituted against the CAN leadership.
The letter reads, “We the Patriotic Christian Youth of Nigeria (PCYN), write with deep sense of responsibility and pains to draw your attention to the embarrassing situation that Dr Gado’s insatiable quest for leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has brought to him as a person and ECWA as a denomination and family.
“We are convinced that if nothing is done by your Board to tame Dr Gado’s desperation, then your church should watch out for the internal and external consequences of tolerating him longer.
“It is no news that Dr Gado indicated interest in contesting for the office of the CAN President.
“This desire was not met, whether by human making or divine arrangement but the fact remained that if God will do a thing it shall surely come to pass and if God did not will a thing, no matter your human manipulations, it shall amount to nothing.”
The ECWA President, Dr Jeremiah Gado had wanted to contest for the President of CAN, but could not actualise his dream, because of the internal wrangling in the TEKAN/ECWA bloc of the association.
However, the election was held sometime in June, 2016, and the candidate of the Christian Council of Nigeria, CCN, Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle emerged as the CAN President.
But Gado decided to approach the court on the ground that he was denied participation in the election by some persons in CAN.
