Payet refusing to play for West Ham – Slaven Bilic

West Ham United manager, Slaven Bilic, has revealed that France midfielder, Dimitri Payet is refusing to play for the club as he tries to force a move out of the London Stadium.

Payet was a nominee for the PFA Player of the Year award for 2016 after a memorable first season in English Premier League and Euro 2016 with France.

There are speculations linking the midfielder away from the club but Bilic insists Payet, who signed a new contract in February that tied him to the club till 2021, will not be allowed to go.

Top Premier League sides, Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with January move for the Frenchman while his former club, Olympic Marseille are also in the race to offer up to €40 million (£34.7m) for the player.

The manager, however, confirmed that he will not train with the first team nor play any part against Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash on Saturday.

He told reporters, “Let’s get serious. “I have a situation with a player. It is Dimitri Payet. He wants to leave.

“This team, the staff, we gave him everything, we were always there for him. I feel let down. I feel angry.

“We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but [Payet] does not want to play for us. We are not going to sell him.

“I spoke to the chairman and this is not a money issue. We gave him a long contract because we want him to stay.

“I am concentrated on the game and don’t want to talk about transfers. There are still over two weeks to go.

“I expect from him to come back and to show commitment and determination to the team like the team has shown to him.”

Payet has scored two goals and registered six assists in the current campaign, with West Ham occupying the 13th place in the table.
