An evangelist, Benjamin Uzoma was on Wednesday docked at the Edo Family Court sitting in Benin for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl.
Benjamin, who pleaded not guilty, was arraigned on a two count charge bothering on indecent assault and having carnal knowledge against the victim’s will.
He was said to have committed the offence at no 6 Oviawe Street, aduwawa quarters in Ikpoba, in Okha Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The accused was said to have forcefully removed the victim’s pants and laid her down against her will to commit the offence, which is punishable under sections 222 and 218 of the Criminal Code.
At the hearing, the court was informed that the accused committed the offence a day after he held a prayer session for the victim’s family.
The presiding magistrate, J.O Ejale adjourned the case till July 18, for further hearing.
