An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Monday ordered the remand of a 61-year-old man, Adejare Adebayo who allegedly used a knife to cut off his wife’s breasts.
Adebayo, identified also as a pastor, committed the act at Onikankan Village, Ibadan on the eve of Christmas.
His 43-year-old wife, Mrs. Risikayat Adegbule reportedly suffered excruciating pains after which she gave up the ghost a few days later.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Salewa Hammed, told the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Abiona Richard, though yet to be ascertained, the man was earlier quoted as saying that he cut the other affected breast because his dead wife had earlier suffered cancer in her left breast.
The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of murder.
Richard ordered that the accused be remanded in Agodi Prison Custody, Ibadan.
The matter was adjourned till January 30 for mention.
