Pacquiao told to forget about fighting Mayweather

Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, has advised him to stop thinking about a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

Mayweather beat the Filipino on points in May and has since retired from boxing after his bout with Andre Berto, but Pacquiao is desperate to face the American again.

Arum says his client should consider other opponents for a farewell fight, which will take place before April 9, 2016.

“He would like to fight Mayweather, but since this is his last fight, and looking at where we are on time, I told him he needs to forget about it and move on,” Arum said in the LA Times.

Aruma also explained that Pacquiao’s involvement in politics in Phillipines, will not allow him focus on his boxing career.

“He can’t mess around and take off to go into training camp for three months if he’s in office as a senator,” added Arum.

“Senators do most of the work in the Philippines. They have to be there virtually every day. He knows if he’s a senator, he can’t fight.”

Arum’s list of potential opponents for Pacquiao’s swansong includes: Amir Khan, Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley, Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol.
