Ozil calls on Wenger to spend, warns against Guardiola arrival

Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, has called on manager Arsene Wenger to embark on a spending spree in the summer, as it will be difficult in the Premier League next season.

The Gunners have only added goalkeeper Petr Cech and midfielder Mohammed Elneny in the last 12 months.

Ozil believes the team needs more depth, to stand a chance of winning their first league title in over a decade.

“We know that it will not be easy and that we need reinforcements if we want next season to be on top here again,” he told Welt am Sonntag.

“It is again interesting to see who invests in who and how much the clubs do during the summer break.”

The Germany international also warned that with Pep Guardiola joining Manchester City next season, it could begin a new era of domination.

“Great coaches are coming into the league. I am thinking primarily of Pep Guardiola. Wherever he has been, he had success. He is a coach, keen on playing and his teams are feared,” he pointed out.
