The workers, however, informed that if their demand was not meet within the grace period, they may be forced to embark on an indefinite strike.

In a communique issued at the end of a delegate meeting from the six affected institutions, the workers declared that the ultimatum took effect from Friday.

The workers in the communique signed by executives of the unions from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, The Ibarapa polytechnic, Eruwa, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, and College of Education, Lanlate, reject what they described as the fractional subvention from the government to the schools.

The communique reads in part, “Government factional release of subvention is totally unacceptable, henceforth, salaries should be paid in full as fractional salary is illegal and totally rejected”.

They maintained that the ultimatum was given to the state government to find ways of clearing their outstanding arrears.

“An ultimatum of 14 days from October 20, 2017, is hereby issued to the state government to pay all the arrears of salaries, failing which all workers in the schools will withdraw their services in totality until all the arrears are paid and 100 per cent salary is restored. We will adopt no pay no work and mass protest to press home our demands at the expiration of this ultimatum”
