A member of House of the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Mr. Abiodun Awoleye has lost his third term bid.
Awoleye, who contested under the platform of the Accord Party, lost to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate, Mr. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi.
Awoleye has been a lawmaker since 2007 when he was elected to represent Ibadan North 2 in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
He was first elected to represent Ibadan North Federal constituency in 2011 under the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
He secured the ruling APC ticket in 2015 and won the election to represent the area in the green chamber for the second time.
He left the ruling APC for African Democratic Congress (ADC) when he discovered that he could not secure the Reps ticket in APC.
Awoleye later moved to Accord Party where he contested in the yesterday’s National Assembly election.
The Returning Officer for the federal constituency, Professor Gbenga Olujide Mukaila who announced the results at the Ibadan North Collation Centre, Agodi Ibadan, said the APC candidate, Akinremi polled 17,048 to defeat his close rival, Hon. Ademola Omotosho of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored a total vote of 16,337.
The Action Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded a total votes of 5,884, Action Democratic Party (ADP) polled a total number of 2,174 votes, while Awoleye of Accord scored 3,238 votes.
