Reports reaching DAILY POST from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has it that the popular Bodija market is currently engulfed by crisis.
Our correspondent gathered that butchers and policemen as well as other security agents are currently in a battle over the demolition of their abattoirs and the relocation of butchers to Amosun village by the state government.
A source told DAILY POST that there were gunshots and burning of tires on the road by protesting butchers who are resisting the relocation order issued by the government.
Another source, however, informed that about six people, including three male and three female have lost their lives as a result of the clash.
The butchers in the last two weeks have continually resisted the relocation order by the state government.
They made their grievances known at a press conference on Sunday.
They also staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday where they were told to go back to their respective locations by the Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Moses Adeyemo who promised that their matter will be looked into.
However, all efforts made by DAILY POST to get reaction from the State Police Command Spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu on the clash proved abortive as calls put through to his phone number were not answered as at the time of filling this report.
