The Lamist Movement, a political group loyal to a former Governor of Oyo state, late Alhaji Lamidi Adesina has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the state chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The decision to join ADC was contained in a statement signed by some members of the group, among whom are Mr Tunde Babarinde; Chief Caleb Oyaniyi; Chief Mufutau Olayiwola; Mr Samson Adesiyan; Chief Musa Ogundeji; Mr Bayo Ojedele; Dr Bolaji Ojooba and Honourable Muil Popoola.
The Lamist movement said in the statement obtained by DAILY POST Wednesday evening that one of the reasons they joined ADC was in order to restore party supremacy.
They said, “The Lamist Movement, having studied the political climate of Oyo State and the need to restore the progressive values of party supremacy, good governance, integrity, and commitment to the common good, hereby comes to the following decisions:
“In view of the current political alliances and alignments playing out in the state and the need for all hands to be on deck in reclaiming the lost progressive values in the state as a template for other states in Nigeria, it is agreed that the movement forthwith formally declare to join other compatriots in ADC.
“ADC is a vehicle for the realisation of the greater goal of restoring the progressive values in the policy, politics and the immediate goal of rescuing Oyo State from insensitive and anti-people government.
“The movement cannot afford to be non-committal in the face of glaring abuse and derogation of the progressive values to which the movement subscribes in the state.
“That the restoration of the aforementioned values is a pre-requisite for the realisation of the progressive ethos and creed as demonstrated by Alhaji Lam Adesina both in private and public life”.
