Oyo 2019: Ex-Commissioner, Nureni Adeniran emerges ADC guber candidate

Former Commissioner for Education in Oyo State, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, on Tuesday emerged as the substantive gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The party, DAILY POST recalls had last month after its leaders and aspirants failed to agree on the person to pick, had nominated Dr. Dele Ajadi as the tentative candidate pending the time they will agree on the person to pick.

Adeniran, who is one of the thirteen gubernatorial aspirants that were jostling for the party’s ticket, emerged as the substantive gubernatorial candidate of the party on Tuesday at an election conducted by the thirteen gubernatorial aspirants.

DAILY POST gathered Tuesday evening that the ex-commissioner emerged during the election held in Ibadan, which had the 13 aspirants in attendance.

It was further learnt that the 13 aspirants, who participated in the election that produced Dr. Adeniran, included Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja and Mr. Dele Adigun.

Others were Engineer Remi Olaniyan, Engineer Remi Oseni, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki, Chief Lowo Obisesan, Dr. Kola Balogun, Mr. Festus Wale Adegoke and Senator Gbenga Babalola.

Adeniran, our correspondent gathered, had served as Councillor, Local Government Chairman before he was appointed as commissioner in the state.
