Oyo 2019: 12 aspirants kick, drag ADC, INEC, Ladoja, Nwosu, others to court

No fewer than twelve (12), gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Oyo State on Tuesday dragged the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), former governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Ladoja and others before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The twelve aspirants in the suit number FHC/ABJ/65/1145/2018 are praying the court to intervene in the alleged illegal selection of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as gubernatorial candidate of the party.

The twelve signatories who are plaintiffs in the suit included: Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Hon. Festus Wale Adegoke, Dr. Nurein Aderemi Adeniran, Mr. Ayodele Adigun, Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde and Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.

Others are: Senator Gbenga Babalola, Dr. Mohammed Kola Balogun, Barrister Ayanlowo Obisesan, Engineer Aderemi Olaniyan, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki and Engineer Aderemi Oseni.

The defendants included INEC, ADC, National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Nwosu, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, Dr. Dele Ajadi, Senator Michael Koleoso, Dr. Busari Adebisi, Chief Olayiwola Olakojo and the purported endorsed candidate, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin among others.

The aspirants claimed that former governor Rashidi Ladoja, Chief Michael Koleoso Busari and Olakojo took unjust decision of hand picking Lanlehin without wider consultation.

They said, “May we state emphatically that there is no candidate yet for House of Assembly, Senate and Gubernatorial positions for the ADC except those offered automatic tickets in Oyo state via the party’s guidelines”.
