Oyegun keeps mum on Kogi APC crisis, admits Nigerians facing hard times under Buhari

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) John Odigie-Oyegun on Saturday kept mum on the ongoing crisis bedevilling his party in Kogi during his visit to the state.

Oyegun and other top party stalwarts attended what was described as ‘mother of all rally’ in Lokoja.

The event, organized by Governor Yahaya Bello, saw defection of thousands of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members to the APC.

But the issue has assumed a new dimension.

Bello on Saturday announced the formation of a parallel exco to allow him conduct local government elections later this year.

In his address party supporters, the APC national chairman admitted that Nigerians are facing hardship under the present administration but the president is doing his best to reverse the trend. Oyegun said the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari liberated the country from an impending economic doom.

“We know things are hard now but the president is making effort to address the present challenges. Today Nigeria under Buhari no longer depends on oil to survive.

“Today, Nigeria under Buhari has taken the lead in the agricultural production, Today, Nigeria under Buhari is operating on a stable economic progression, so let those who are saying the Buhari led government have failed to go back to their holes and keep quiet while we continue in delivering dividend of democracy to Nigerians.

“With what I have seen here today, Kogi state and APC will continue to be victorious in 2019 and future elections. I will go back to Abuja and tell them that Kogi APC is very much in charge and ready to maintain it position as the most acceptable party.

“Kogi state will be among the first state that will endorse President Muhammadu Buhari after he has declared for reelection”, Oyegun added.
