The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, on Tuesday said those who abandon their vehicles on the highways will be made to pay heavy fines.

The Ore Unit Commander of the FRSC, Mr Kehinde Dahunsi, disclosed this in Ore, Ondo State.

Dahunsi lamented that the abandoned vehicles sometimes cause heavy traffic and accidents on the highways.

He disclosed that abandoned vehicles on the Benin-Ore expressway have been cleared by his command.

“It is a serious road offence to abandon or leave the ‘accidented’ vehicles on the highway to cause distractions, traffic gridlock and further accidents.” he said.

“We have removed all these vehicles from the highways but any vehicle found henceforth will be impounded until its owner pay heavy fines.”
