Over 3,000 youths to be recruited into Cross River Homeland Security Service

No fewer than 3,000 young persons are expected to be enlisted into the Cross River State’s Homeland Security Service as the state government has in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, commenced the recruitment process.

According to a statement issued yesterday in Calabar by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Media, Mr. Christian Ita, an applicant must be at least 6ft tall and a holder of a university degree or a Higher National Diploma, HND, to be eligible for enlistment into the outfit.

The Cross River State Homeland Security was recently established after Governor Ayade signed into law, a bill passed by the State House of Assembly for its establishment.

A non-arm bearing organization, the key function of the Cross River State Homeland Security is information gathering, which is expected to ensure a more effective policing of the state by the Nigerian Police Force.

The state government has already purchased hundreds of Kia sedan cars fitted with state-of-the art communication gadgets in preparation for the official inauguration of the service.
