The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday said that a total of 1,924,072 voters have registered for the September 10 governorship election in Edo State.
The National Commissioner (South-South), Dr. Muhammed Lecky, made the disclosure at the presentation of the official register of voters in Benin.
The figure includes 132,559 persons captured during the Continuous Voters Registration exercise in June and 1,791,513 voters registered prior to the 2015 general elections across 2,627 polling units.
Lecky, however, added that “more than 400,000 permanent voter cards were yet to be collected”
The INEC senior official urged voters to ensure they get their cards to ensure full participation in the poll.
