A kidnap syndicate arrested by the Rivers State Police Command, has confessed how they killed and buried two of their victims.
The suspects, Sampson Dibia, Bright Ajie, Henry Ajie and Dadison Ogadinma also confessed that apart from being kidnappers, they were hired killers.
They made this disclosure on Friday at the state police headquarters in Port Harcourt, the state capital during the parade of over 146 suspected criminals in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Musa Kimo, in the state, paraded the suspects before newsmen and disclosed that they were arrested from different communities in the state.
He noted that the suspects were arrested in connection with different offences, ranging from, cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping.
Kimo, who spoke through the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad, expressed regrets that some of the suspects did not only kidnap their victims, but also murdered them.
The kidnap syndicate in the course of the parade, confessed to journalists, narrating how they killed and buried their two victims in Ohigha community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state.
One of the suspects, Henry Ajie, speaking for the gang said they kidnapped and killed their two victims, Mrs. Igila Sunday and Pastor Chukwu Ekere.
The State Police PRO had earlier told newsmen that the gang kidnapped and strangled the duo and buried their corpses in shallow graves after collecting ransom.
But, Ajie revealed that they (suspects) killed them based on instruction from relatives of the victims.
He said, “We were arrested by the police because we kidnapped and killed one woman and one pastor in Ohigha community. It is the woman’s son-in-law that brought the job to our boss, Mr. Dreadman Okala.
“The son-in-law told us that her (Mrs. Sunday) husband was paid huge amount of money, so, he contacted us to kidnap the woman so that her husband would bring the money to us. Our boss kidnapped the woman and brought her for us to watch over her while we waited for ransom.
“The children of the woman brought N200, 000 to us. Our leader bought one live goat and slaughtered it. They later gave me N1, 500 to wash my cloth. That is all I got from the deal. We killed her because somebody who is close to her came and paid us that we should kill her because of their problem,” the gang leader added.
The suspects, speaking on the killing of their second victim, Pastor Chukwu Ekere, stated that they were commissioned to eliminate the pastor by his (the pastor’s) younger brother.
“Pastor Chukwu Ekere’s own is that it is their last born that came to tell our leader that the pastor was disturbing him that he wanted to kill him, so our leader also killed him because the brother paid for him to be killed.
“I am not the one who killed them; I was only guiding them when the leaders were not around,” Ajie swiftly stated.
Meanwhile, the CP said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
