Kano state Governo, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in Kaduna reiterated his administration’s commitment to running a government that is open and receptive to ideas and other inputs aimed at moving the state forward.
He also emphasized his resolve and commitment to total transformation of Kano State through continuation of the ongoing projects, readjusting some programs and introduction of more people oriented projects, policies and programs.
Ganduje stated this in his address to declare open the 2015 commencement retreat for political office holders, top government functionaries and directors in the state, holding at Hotel 17, Kaduna.
According to the governor, the fundamental objective of the retreat was informed by the desire to ensure synergy and common understanding by all stakeholders on the best means of accomplishing government’s policies, programs and projects for the overall socio-economic development of the state.
“In this vein, we have embarked upon various reforms aimed at ensuring a result oriented state public service. These measures include among others streamlining MDAs by reducing ministries from 19-14 for effective and efficient performance while we are committed to the implementation of SERVICOM concept aimed at improving service delivery in line with international best practices.
“The retreat will undoubtedly provide you deeper understanding of our collective responsibilities and obligations as key stakeholders in the conduct of government business,” he told the participants.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Civil Service, Kano state, Muhammad Awwal Naiya, whose office put together the retreat, corroborated the governor on the idea of convening the retreat, saying, it is to provide a platform for relevant stakeholders in governance process to understand the policy thrust of the present administration and the need to ensure synergy in the formulation and implementation of government policies, programs and projects for overall socio-economic development of the state.
