An eyewitness simply identified as Otunbakush has recounted his experience during the tanker explosion at Otedola Bridge which killed nine persons and burnt over 54 vehicles.
DAILY POST had reported that no fewer than 9 people were killed in the fuel tanker’s mishap.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in a statement on its official Twitter handle, has equally confirmed that 54 vehicles were burnt to ashes in the incident.
However, Otunbakush, who said the tanker was not at fault as the deaths would have been avoided stated that ‘foolishness’ killed the victim of the explosion.
He blamed the victims, saying that, ‘Those involved had one minute time to leave the scene of the incident but they chose to save their cars while others made videos with their phones.
The witness on his Twitter handle, @ Otunbakush, said, ‘’The tanker guy tried avoiding an ancident but look what happened at the end of the day, he stepped on his breaks, hit the partition and tripped over, now here is the part that got me like we are really mad in this country, ignorance killed all the people that died.
‘’That tanker didn’t explode immediately, people had 1 minute to save themselves, every minute counts in an accident. People were trying to save their cars instead of their lives, there was a Camry in front of the tanker, the man was actually trying to reverse his car, he was so foolish.
‘’Save yourself and save cars later, fire and electricity are like the same. From one path to the other , now assumption kill us in this country, people were in their cars making videos instead of running away. The fire started, panic set in, I watched people got burnt.
‘’It became of struggle contest on who’s going to come out first, fire rounded them up, what they should have done first, they did it last and paused with their lives. May their souls rest in peace, but foolishness killed those that died on that bridge. God forgive all their sins.”
