The 5-man panel constituted by the National Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress(APC), has confirmed the disqualification of an aspirant for the June 12 primary, Senator Mudashir Hussein from election to fill the vacant seat in Osun West senatorial district.
DAILY POST earlier reported that Hussein, a senator turned commissioner was disqualified by the panel on Saturday, base on his failure to tender his registration letter as a serving commissioner within 30 days before the expression of his interest to contest for the senatorial seat.
The panel, led by the incumbent Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanusi Rikiji, and the Secretary General, Charles Airhiavbere in a letter given to the Chairman of the party in the state, Prince Gboyega Famoodun and the two candidates, disqualified Hussein for running foul of the electoral act.
Rikiji, however, advised Hussein to approach the 3-man appeal panel set up to treat every complaint that cropped up in the process.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Justice in the state, Dr Ajibola Bashir however frowned at the position of the panel, arguing that there is an interpretation of the appeal court with regards to the tenet of public service, as being envisaged by the electoral act.
He noted that the panel failed to also set a clear cut rule of engagement for its operation before commencing its work.
Husein, on his part disclosed that he had resigned his appointment as the commissioner since June 6, saying he had fulfilled all requirements of law to contest.
In his response, the chairman of the panel announced that the aggrieved party should officially submit its reservation on the resolution of the panel to the appeal panel, which was billed to commence work immediately.
