The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salaam, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to come to the aide of States that are owing their workers.

The Speaker made the plea in a statement that was issued by his media aide, Mr Goke Butika on Friday.

Salaami noted that the masses will feel the impact of the bail-out.

He stressed that most of the states defaulted in paying their workers because of the reduction in their allocation as a result of the drop in oil price, adding that the States needed the federal government to come to their aide.

The statement read, “The fixing of Nigeria should begin with the bailing out of the states that could not pay salaries so that people at the grassroots can have a sigh of relief.

“It will go a long way for the Buhari presidency to have a consultative meeting with all governors and listen to them with a view to developing a road map that would facilitate mutual solutions to the challenges facing the states.”

The speaker further admonished governors irrespective of their political affiliation to align with the programmes of the new President.
