As the struggle to succeed Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun rages on between the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, many people have been taken aback by the resolution of Senator Iyiola Omisore to work for the APC.

Omisore, a candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the September 22 governorship election in the state had on Wednesday, declared to work with the APC to ensure victory for its candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

DAILY POST reports that the gubernatorial election in the state was declared inconclusive by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, citing electoral guidelines, which stipulate that the margin between the two leading contestants must be in excess of registered voters where votes were cancelled.

Meanwhile, DAILY POST reliably gathered that the scramble to get the support of Omisore might eventually be efforts in futility based on the voting strength of the area where Omisore has political influence.

Garage Olode, in Ife South Local Government, where Omisore’s father is a monarch, and which naturally gives the former lawmaker some political influence has 335 registered voters.

Meanwhile, Orolu, a stronghold of PDP, with three polling units has 947 registered voters, likewise Alekuwodo ward 5, unit 17 in Osogbo, where PDP also commands significant influence, has 884 registered voters.

Also, Oyere, in Ife South local government with 167 voters will be shared between the two parties, as well as Ife North, making up the seven units of 3498 voters where rerun election will take place tomorrow.
