The State Government of Osun on Monday announced the receipt of six billion, three hundred million naira (6.3 billion) as the third tranche of the Paris Club refund.
The Commissioner for finance, Mr Bola Oyebamiji disclosed this through a press statement made available to journalists in Osogbo.
Oyebamiji explained that a committee set up by the State Government, known as Apportionment Committee, and saddled with the responsibility of rationalising resources accruing to the government for appropriate disbursement would sit over the fund.
The committee was headed by a leading labour leader in the state, Comrade Hassan Sumonu, and according to the statement, the committee will make necessary decision on the fund as quick as possible.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state, Mr Adelani Baderinwa said the availability of the fund was a divine intervention to ameliorate economic predicament in the state. According to him, God has always been making things possible when it seems there was no way.
He, therefore, thanked civil servants in the state for their cooperation and support to the present administration in the state “since the country ran into financial crisis”.
