Following the report on Friday that the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mr. Segun Agbaje was humiliated and beaten to coma by some angry youths, the Osun Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied that its boss was beaten, explaining that he was only booed.
“Some rancorous fellows attempted to disrupt the service,” the commission noted in what was referred to as the booing and chanting that greeted Mr. Agbaje’s oration at the burial service.
In a statement, the commission stated that Agbaje’s speech at the burial was only disrupted by some angry people he called members of a political party.
The release also confirmed that it took the intervention of the officiating minister to bring the situation under control.
An Osun resident, who was present at the Church, said Agbaje was not beaten but booed and called names repeatedly.
“As he stood to talk, the shout of Ole, Ole, rented the air. He stopped but the shout and chanting continued. The officiating pastor then pleaded and pleaded until the aggrieved members of public stayed action,” he said.
