The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the job centre recently inaugurated by the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, as wasteful spending.
The state governor recently inaugurated the Osun Job Centre in Osogbo, the state capital, which according to him would be used to assist unemployed youths searching for jobs in the labour market.
But PDP in a statement on Wednesday labelled the job centre as a fraud and another wrong step from a lost administration.
The statement signed by its spokesperson, Prince Diran Odeyemi, said “Imagine if monies expended on the project are spent on clearing the backlog of arrears of salaries owed youth engaged through O’yes scheme and other failed initiatives, the beneficiaries would not have been plunged into deeper economic crisis as they are experiencing now, after accepting to sweep streets even with their degrees.
“It is bizarre that the Aregbesola-led administration that could not pay salaries and pensions of workers, and retirees would embark on another round of wasteful spendings through a multi-million naira centre to assist unemployed youths get jobs that are not created or available.
“Mr. Aregbesola from our findings must have been seeing job centres in advanced countries of the world and thought introducing such would halt his falling popularity among the people of the state,” the statement added.
