Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson and chairman of the Osun State PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election on Monday submitted the report of the exercise to the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

The election, which held on Saturday, July 21 in Oshogbo, the Osun State capital, returned Sen. Ademola Adeleke as the guber candidate for the Sept. 22 election in the state.

A statement issued by Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo quoted Dickson, while submitting the report at the party National Secretariat in Abuja, as saying the exercise was “successful”.

Dickson said the primary election in Osun was the most keenly contested.

The Governor expressed confidence that if all the PDP leaders and stakeholders bury their differences and work together, the PDP will trounce the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

He commended former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu; former Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe and other members of the committee for their cooperation.

The statement also quoted Secondus while receiving the report, commending Dickson and members of his team for conducting transparent primary election in Osun.

Meanwhile, an aspirant in the primary election, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, has urged the party’s leadership to declare him winner.

Ogunbiyi was at the party’s National Secretariat on Monday to petition the leadership over the primary that produced Adeleke as the flag-bearer.

Ogunbiyi narrowly lost to Adeleke, polling 1,562 votes as against 1,569 votes by the latter.
