Osun election: Ben Bruce, Dele Momodu react as court sacks Oyetola, declares Adeleke winner

The lawmaker representing Bayelsa East in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, on Friday reacted to the Osun State election petition tribunal judgement, which declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the September 27, 2018 governorship election in the state.

The tribunal had on Friday held that the September 27 rerun election in the state was illegal.

The three-man panel of the tribunal gave the judgement following the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleka against the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.

The tribunal also ruled that PDP and Adeleke proved that it was the state Returning Officer, who cancelled the results in seven Polling Units, adding that the petitioners also proved that the Returning Officer has no power to cancel election results of a polling unit.

The Tribunal also agreed to deduct 2,029 votes from the APC scores and 1,246 votes from PDP votes in the 17 polling units where there was no compliance.

Reacting, Ben Bruce took to his Twitter page to congratulate Adeleke.

He tweeted, ”Congratulations my colleague and brother, Senator @IsiakaAdeleke1. This victory is for Osun state.”

Similarly, Publisher of Ovation International Magazine, Dele Momodu, alongside a picture of Adeleke wrote, ”Ore mi ooo, congratulations. I told you not to panic, your case was crystal clear and God is always in control. Everyone knew you won the Osun Gubernatorial election. You will cross all the hurdles, by the grace of God. Stay strong.”
