Ben Murray-Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East district in National Assembly has kicked against the loan by President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s to Osun state traders.
The presidency on Sunday stated that the loans were for traders benefiting from the TraderMoni scheme, which pay N10,000 to beneficiaries.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a clarification on Sunday, explained that no documentation and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) of any kind was required against the backdrop of claims that PVC was a requirement for the loans.
The spokesman said the loan is part of President Muhammadu Buhari administration plans to empower more Nigerians economically not to rig Osun elections.
Reacting, Ben Bruce in a post on his Twitter page said the N10,000 loan just weeks to Osun State election shows high level of corruption by Buhari-led government.
He wrote: “ ₦10,000 tradermoni ‘loan’ to electorates in Osun and secret payment of ₦16.6 billion by the Buhari govt to Osun State government just weeks to the election (in contrast, they did not pay Ekiti) are brazen acts of high corruption by a so called anti corruption administration.”
