All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the weekend in Osogbo, boasted that Osun State does not have his kind of money.
The former governor of Lagos spoke during a visit to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun.
Tinubu was reacting to claims that he is trying to impose the APC candidate in the September 22 governorship election, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, on the state.
Tinubu dismissed the allegation that he was trying to use Oyetola to siphon money from the state, explaining that he only wants the best for Osun.
He said: “Oyetola is a reliable person. He may be quiet but he is an encyclopedia of finance.
“He will not take a bribe; he will not steal your money. If he is looking for money, he would have stayed back in Lagos.
“They may be saying Jagaban, Asiwaju has come to plant someone. I told them: “So, how much do you people have?” he asked.
Facing Oba Olanipekun, Tinubu said: “Kabiesi, I should not say this…Osun doesn’t have my kind of money.”
In his remarks, the monarch expressed gratitude to the APC leader for his role when he had challenges over his emergence as Ataoja of Osogbo.
He, however, said if elected, Oyetola should help to further develop the city.
Tinubu also visited the Owa-Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran.
He was accompanied on the visit by Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole, ex APC National Vice Chairman, South-West, Chief Pius Akinyelure, Lagos State Information Commissioner, Kehinde Bamigbetan, and a National Commissioner of the National Communications Commission, NCC, Sunday Dare.
