Medical personnel working for the Osun State government on Thursday embarked on a protest to demand for backlog of salaries and allowances.

The doctors, under the aegis of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the state condemned the lackadaisical approach of the state government towards their plights.

The president of the association, Dr Jumoke Olatokunbo said doctors in the employment of the state government are being owed 22 months arrears, adding that the situation is already becoming unbearable for his colleagues.

He called for quick intervention of well meaning Nigerians for the purpose of persuading the government to meet their demand and avoid embarrassing industrial action.

The procession for the peaceful protest commenced from the premises of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital,(LAUTECH) Osogbo, towards the popular Olaiya Junction.

DAILY POST recalls that the Thursday’s protest makes it the third one in the series of protests in the last two months.
