The Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has taken a stand against the trend of vote-buying ahead of the Saturday’s election.

The resident pastor of the church in Osogbo, Dapo Olumuyiwa, on Friday, led the congregation to pray that the Lord should give the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agents the courage to be fair to all parties in the poll.

He called on registered voters to go out and exercise their civic duty in a peaceful manner and not to sell their votes.

According to him, the wrath of God would descend upon perpetrators of electoral frauds.

He said, “The Lord will disappoint those who think they can buy votes, their money will fail them.

“Those who want to use their positions to subvert the will of the people will also be disappointed.”

The cleric told the congregation that he heard that some people were giving out N5,000 to prospective voters and forcing them to swear to an oath that they would vote for them.

He described the situation as devilish and prayed that the Lord would nullify the oath so that people would have the courage to vote according to their conscience.

He quoted from The Bible, Isaiah 8:9-10, which read, “Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.”
