A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Festus Oluwaseun, for allegedly stealing 250 bags of rice totaling N3.3m belonging to one Fashola.
According to the Police prosecutor, ASP Idoko John, the accused was facing a 3- count charge bordering on theft and unlawful possession of stolen items, adding that Oluwaseun committed the offense on July 23, about 1:17pm at Baruwa area of Osogbo.
He explained that the offense committed contravened sections 419 and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offense, as his counsel, Mr. Ola Ibrahim prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Rofiat Olayemi then granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in the like sum.
Olayemi said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and two passports sized photographs attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was later adjourned to 2nd September for hearing.
